Welcome to Corset's Women's Fashion BlogBack Where We Started: How to Wear the 80s (again) Ladies, the looks of 80s are back. While we love a good legging and studded belt, it can be daunting to incorporate this trend into our current closet (and lifestyle). Here's a brief primer on how you can sport the latest trend sans Madonna's headband or Michael Jackson's glove:1. Leggings - fellow products of the 80s can attest...leggings rock. But if you're over 25, let's talk. To keep the legging going strong, pair with long dresses or long (emphasize llloooonnngggg) flowy tops and chunky knit sweaters. They work best with high boots (slouched or slim) for a chic weekend look or with flats for casual errands around town. Caution: limit yourself to one or two pairs - they probably won't be around next Fall. 2. Rocker Look - channel Joan Jett without strapping on the guitar. For ladies' night out, pair a choker necklace with a pleather jacket, slim jeans (dark navy, grey or black work well) and high boots for the full effect. For the office, we'd layer the same jacket over a crisp white blouse, and add nice trousers and heels. 3. Feminine Ruffles - love the ruffle. Ruffled blouses are all the rage. To tame the ultra-feminine look, pair with a tailored blazer for work. Then, lose the jacket, grab some dark jeans, earrings and heels and paint the town red. Bonus: if you have some full frontage, the ruffles serve as camouflage. 4. Big Handbags - moms and packrats rejoice! The large handbag is back (but not the huge slouch bags the Olsen twins lugged a few years back.) Hot handbag colors for Fall include purple, teal, orange and mustard. And grey, brown and black are available in some refreshing designs. (Get a peek at some of the bags Corset clients will be sporting this Fall - free for new personal styling clients who sign up before Aug. 31!) 5. Wraps - gone are the days of the twinset. We're excited for the new wrap-cardigan options coming our way for Fall. Extend your warm-weather wardrobe by adding a wrap in Fall's trend colors for a pulled-together look day or night. It's another handy way to infuse color into your outfit. For as little as $50 per month, you can have your own personal stylist creating on-trend, sophisticated looks for you.
