Accessorizing with a lightweight scarf in the summer can be an inexpensive and stylish way to spice up any outfit. Scarves add color, texture, and a boho-chic finish to any dress or top. Follow these tips from Corset Personal Styling to find the right scarf for you.
#1 – Most scarves are cut short and square or long and narrow. Both are great for accessorizing, but if scarves are new to your wardrobe, Corset stylists recommend long and narrow because of the versatile draping and tying looks.
#2 – Go lightweight in the summer – and use your scarf to cover your arms in air conditioned rooms, or tie at your neck to protect your décolletage from the sun. Leave the heavier scarves for the winter months.
#3 – To get the most for your money, look at your wardrobe and decide what color scarf best compliments your clothes. There are plenty of styles out there, solid and print, that can transition from one outfit to the next.
#4 – Don’t over accessorize. A scarf can take the place of a necklace, so earrings (big or small) usually is all you need to pull off this look.
#5 – Depending on how you wear the scarf it can transform your look from casual to elegant. Play around with various ties, knots and draping styles and wear it in a different way each day for a fresh new look.
