Shopping. Many of us have a love/hate relationship with this word. If you’re like us, it can be one of your favorite activities—or a full-time job, depending on your past experiences. We LOVE shopping, but sometimes we HATE the effort that’s needed to find that perfect outfit. So, what’s a girl to do? Hire a personal shopper, of course! (They’re not just reserved for the rich and famous, you know.)

Corset Boutique & Styling Studio is going to be our new best friend this year. Reopened just a couple weeks ago, the boutique still features the same name, location, personal styling, and many of the same brands. However, new owner Jodi Mayers has made some improvements, and in this case change is good.

Corset now offers an array of items in a variety of price points so there’s something for everyone. Plus, the store is now open after 5 p.m. for those of us who work a 9-to-5 job. The in-store collection will be updated monthly, and for the first time shorts will be available. It’s time to show off those legs and the new you. Well … maybe after a little self-tanner, right?

Corset Boutique & Styling Studio Opening Soon!

Fri, April 01, 2011
Hello Corset Friends!

Thank you for all of the warm emails and phone calls. I am honored to be carrying on the Corset torch! I know that the decision to transition out of this business was difficult for Carrie and Becky, as they have personally connected with so many of you. I hope you will also welcome me into your closets!

The decision to purchase Corset was an easy one for me. This is something I have always wanted to do and this business in particular embodies core values that resonate with me as a person, and, more importantly, as a woman. For starters, I LOVE the fact that we are a boutique that caters to a wide range of ages, lifestyles, and body types. Real women come in all shapes and sizes, and the Corset stylists excel at handpicking clothes and accessories for women ages 30-65, sizes 0-20.

I also LOVE the fact that you enjoy shopping with us! I hope we will continue to be a destination that leads you away from the mall and straight to Mainstreet in Hopkins. We want Corset to be a boutique you look forward to visiting. We want you to have fun while you’re here - all the while discovering new things about yourself and your personal style. We also hope you’ll share our story with your friends and family, as there’s a little something here for everyone.

I’d like to extend a huge thank you for your loyal patronage over the past several years. I personally believe that loyalty is earned when the following is true: quality products, affordable prices and outstanding service. You expect and deserve that, and Corset has and will consistently deliver. We want to be your trusted fashion concierge – your go-to resource to help with any of your fashion or styling needs.

For the most part, life as you know it at Corset will remain status quo. However, we are making a few minor tweaks to better accommodate all of our customers. For starters, to make visiting us easier, we’ve changed our store hours:

Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat: 11 AM – 6 PM
Thurs: 11 AM – 9 PM
Sun & Mon: By Appointment

We have also added some terrific new brands to the existing Corset line-up. Please look for Pink Martini, 3 Sisters, OXMO (a European brand), and others next time you’re in. These lines offer some fresh new looks at great price points.

If you are a personal styling client, we are re-signing styling packages for the fall season now. Over the next several weeks, we will be meeting with various manufacturers to pick out the hottest fall looks, and would like to purchase with you in mind. Please call 952.224.2495 or email me at to secure your membership today. While you are waiting for your next fabulous package, if there is anything we can do to keep you looking fierce, just give us a call. We have fantastic spring pieces arriving every day, including flirty florals, feminine lace, embellished tanks, and colorful sweaters and jackets. We’d be more than happy to set items aside or ship them out to you.

Carrie and Becky have been a tremendous help to me, and will continue to consult through October. We hope this will make our transition seamless for all of you. We thank you for your ongoing support and please come visit us soon!

Warmly,

Jodi Montgomery Mayers
Owner & President

Corset Boutique & Styling Studio to Re-Open Under New Ownership!

Friends of Corset,

Corset has been re-styled! It is my pleasure to announce that Corset Boutique & Styling Studio will be re-opening at 715 Mainstreet in Hopkins on April 5 under the ownership of savvy personal stylist, Jodi Mayers.

Over the last few months, Jodi, Becky and I have worked as a team to transition the Corset business and continue offering fun, flattering age-appropriate looks for women at work or play. I can tell you that Jodi’s Spring/Summer collection is fantastic – featuring vibrant dresses, skirts, blouses, cardigans, party tops, and even white denim!

In addition to having an amazing natural talent for accessorizing, Jodi, a former sales and marketing executive specializing in customer service training, will combine her passion for fashion with Corset’s existing vibe. She is a born stylist, having been the go-to shopper for her family and friends since her days at the College of St. Benedict. When she’s not scoping out new trends, Jodi, who has a master’s degree in human resources, sings with the Basilica choir and dabbles in writing children’s stories. She’s even a recording artist with her own CD!

While the Corset name, location, sizing structure, and many of our favorite brands will remain the same, Jodi has made a few changes to better accommodate client needs and requests. At the new Corset, you will find:

  • An array of items in a variety of “something for everybody” price points

  • An in-store collection that is refreshed more often with wardrobe-reviving pieces

  • More hip, casual offerings and denim combined with office styles

  • New shopping hours to give customers more “after 5” options

Jodi and her team are now re-signing personal styling membership clients for the Fall season. If you or someone you know would be interested in having wardrobes hand-selected and shipped to your home each season, please call Jodi at 952-224-2495 or email her at: to secure your membership today.

Please watch for more information from Jodi Mayers. It has been our pleasure to work with the women who have walked through our doors and I hope you will make it a priority to walk through the new Corset often.

Sincerely,

Carrie Leum

Founder/Former President of Corset, Inc.

Fashion Makeovers & Closet Takeovers

Tue, November 10, 2009
Thrift stores are an economical way to shop these days with great finds for a minimal fee. But what if you could get those vintage looks for free? That's just what this week's closet takeover subject did.

Emily Holland, a college student at Hamline University, is an avid thrift store shopper. This past summer, she was given some vintage pieces from her grandmother and needs help transforming these timeless treasures into modern day duds. So we sent our takeover expert, Carrie Leum, to help.

Women’s Fashion - War of the Wardrobe

Tue, September 29, 2009
Typically our style expert, Carrie Leum of Corset, travels to a viewer’s home to create a few new looks from the viewers own closet. Today, we gave her a different challenge! Our guest co-host, Tim Sherno, joined Carrie for a “War of the Wardrobe!” Tim put his own talents to work and picked out an outfit to see how his measured up against the one that Carrie picks out. Carrie and Tim headed to Eden Prairie to invade the closet of Jessie Witt.

Carrie Leum is a personal stylist and owner of Corset in Hopkins. If you’d like Carrie to takeover your closet, email us at and be sure to put “Closet Takeover” in the subject line.

It’s a Cinch
We love being opinionated. But while it’s the easiest thing in the world to tell someone else who to date and how to dress, it’s more complicated when we’re trying it for ourselves. Is he really worth the heartache? Does this dress make my butt look ginormous? Big questions, tough answers.

Enter Corset, a personal styling consultant and boutique that provides practical suggestions and cutting-edge ideas. Snap up their not-seen-in-the-mall pieces one by one at the store, or order an “Everyday Runway” package, which delivers fabulous grab-and-go looks, styled just for you, each season. And they’ve got more than fashion chops, they’ve got great memories, too. They’ll keep track of your wardrobe and provide ideas for pairings and outfits from your whole closet.

If you ask, the experts at Corset will tell you that the hot trends for fall are a return of 80s, shoulders standing out, and “pops” of purple and teal. And yes, they will even tell you if those pants do, indeed, supersize your hindquarters. Now, about your boyfriend? The Corset chicks won’t say, but let’s meet for drinks and we’ll give you our opinion.
